Premier Padmini. 1972–97 (prod. unknown). 4-door sedan. F/R, 1089 cm³ (4 cyl. OHV). Development of Fiat 1100D, particularly popular in Mumbai and southern locales. Due to the licensing agreement with Fiat ending, Premier changed the name to its own marque from 1972. Car had already been “indigenized”, with local content and improvements, since the 1960s. Well known to southerners as a workhorse and, in some respects, the standard car in that part of India. Forty horsepower from four-cylinder engine.
